Did Joe Biden Serve in the Military?
The President of the United States has many different responsibilities and duties. One of those includes being in charge of the greatest military force in the history of mankind. It’s a lot of responsibility, and while there are many requirements that one must meet in order to become POTUS, prior military service isn’t one of them. Of course, it should also be no surprise that despite this, there have been many American presidents who have served in the military. But did Joe Biden serve in the military? We have the answer.
More like this: Which Presidents Did Not Serve in the Military?
Did Joe Biden Ever Serve in the Military?
You may find yourself wondering, as many other Americans have before you, “Did Joe Biden serve in the military?” The answer is no. Joe Biden is not a Veteran. And if you are wondering, even though President Biden is the Commander-in-Chief, the leader of the American Armed Forces, he will not be considered a Veteran after serving his term(s) in the White House.
Biden’s military service has come into question during his political career and continues to be a point of debate among Democrats, Republicans, and wherever else the political spectrum might take you. Is Biden a Veteran? No, and it is unlikely that he will ever achieve such status.
Does Joe Biden Have Asthma?
Yes, it seems that Joe Biden’s allergies and asthma have been well-documented medical issues that the President has had to deal with. However, there is something important to remember about these particular ailments.
Online, things can often become misconstrued or misinterpreted, and while asthma has played a role in President Biden’s health, it is not what caused him to miss out on military service. There are rumors stating that President Biden dodged the draft for the Vietnam War, and others point to him receiving five deferments during this time for his asthma. Officially, his deferments were based on his status as a student at the time, not due to any asthma-related issues.
The Joe Biden draft dodger argument, rumor, or whatever you wish to call it, involving asthma is simply false. Joe Biden’s military service may be a much more tangible and interesting topic if not for his studious path where he was able to complete his studies and ultimately earn his law degree from the University of Delaware, thanks in part due to the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have fought to keep America safe and free.
Biden Continues a Recent Trend in Non-Veteran Presidents
An overview of many presidents who have achieved the title in recent years reveals many have not been Veterans before stepping into the Oval Office. If you take out the exception of President George W. Bush, who did serve in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War, most recent presidents have not served. This includes Donald Trump, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and, of course, President Biden.
Did Joe Biden serve in the military? It doesn’t appear so. Then again, many others who have made their place in history as POTUS haven’t either. It will be interesting to see how this trend continues or dissipates going forward in a hostile political climate where any and everything matters to the millions watching to cast their vote.
