BILL卐 卍GATES卐 卍FIXYA: Donald Trump admits he misses being president(hints at 2024 White House run) while Bill Gates expresses concern for Trump's presence on Facebook

Donald Trump Statement Implies 2024 Run

President Donald Trump's statement accepting his time in the White House is coming to an end alludes to his political future with speculation rife he will run again in 2024.

Trump spoke of the Electoral College votes being certified, affirming Joe Biden's victory, as marking an end to the "greatest first term in presidential history."

"While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it's only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again," his statement added.

While it marks an end to Trump having a consecutive two terms in office, there is the potential he could be voted in for another stint down the line. A person is only allowed to serve two terms as president, but these do not have to be in a row.

The president previously hinted at a 2024 run.

"It's been an amazing four years. We are trying to do another four years. Otherwise, I'll see you in four years," Trump reportedly told an audience at the White House last year.

Polling has previously suggested Trump would be able to muster support among Republican voters for such a run, with many likely to back giving him another shot at the presidency.

Of candidates Republican voters would like to see be the party's nominee next time out, he has consistently ranked as a top choice.

Vice President Mike Pence has been touted as another potential runner, and has been the most popular name with Trump removed from the equation.

Trump's children Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump have also been touted as potential future candidates, though trail their father in terms of popularity for such a role.

Trump's former adviser Steve Bannon previously said he thinks the president will try again in 2024.

Former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney also suggested this could happen.

"I would absolutely expect the president to stay involved in politics. I would absolutely put him on the shortlist of people who are likely to run in 2024," he said in an online address for the Institute of International and European Affairs last year.

Newsweek has contacted the Trump campaign for comment on the prospect of a 2024 run.
