Tyson Fury was denied sweet revenge as Oleksandr Usyk secured a controversial points victory over the Gypsy King in their long-awaited rematch.

It was an incredibly close fight with both boxers having strong spells, but the judges saw it differently. All three scored it 116-112 in favour of the champion, who remains undefeated having won all 23 of his professional fights.

Fury was visibly distraught as the result was announced and bolted out of the ring before giving a post-fight interview.

Frank Warren, who promotes Fury, was furious with the outcome and said after the fight: "Tyson is very disappointed, as I am as well. The result is nuts. Very harsh scoring.

"I don't get it. I thought he was in control. It is up to Tyson whether he fights again, it is too early after a fight and emotions are running high."

Goodbye

That's all we've got time for this evening.

Thanks for joining us to follow an epic night of boxing at the Kingdom Arena.

It will be a tough Christmas period for Tyson Fury, who will be left to mull over what went wrong while munching his mince pies.

Oleksandr Usyk, meanwhile, will be enjoying the big day in the knowledge that he is the best heavyweight on the planet.

The margin of victory has already proven controversial and there will be plenty of reaction over the next few days.

Make sure to keep up to date with the best of it on Express Sport.

Goodnight!

Johnny Nelson says judges got it right

"Usyk initiated almost everything in the fight and Tyson had to react," says Sky Sports pundit Johnny Nelson.

"Usyk was the one that was working to a plan, Tyson was the one that was having to try to deal with one.

"Yes, it was close, I don’t think the scorecards were like that, but I understand that Usyk did a great job.

"Frank was saying he thought Tyson won. That’s being a promoter. There’s no way in a million years he thought Tyson won.

"The best man won on the night and got the job done."

Frank Warren fumes over controversial decision

Frank Warren, who promotes Fury, is visibly furious as he reflects on the wide margin of the decision.

"Tyson is very disappointed, as I am as well," he says.

"The result is nuts. Very harsh scoring. How can you only give Tyson four rounds? I don't get it.

"I thought he was in control. It is up to Tyson whether he fights again. It is too early after a fight and emotions are running high."

More from Oleksandr Usyk

"He [Tyson Fury] is a great fighter, he is a great opponent," says a jubilant Oleksandr Usyk.

"An unbelievable 24 rounds for my career. Thank you so much.

"I devote this to her [his mother] and all mothers of Ukraine."

Quizzed on what he will do next, Usyk responds: "I can more. I am ready. I go back home, rest."

Oleksandr Usyk gives immediate reaction

Oleksandr Usyk is asked if he felt the scorecards were accurate.

He replies: "I win. It's good."

Daniel Dubois then enters the ring and demands a rematch with Usyk following his defeat in Poland last summer.

Usyk responds by asking Turki Alalshikh to make the undisputed fight happen.

OLEKSANDR USYK BEATS TYSON FURY AGAIN!

OLEKSANDR USYK WINS VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION!

All three judges score the fight 116-112 in favour of the undefeated champion.

Tyson Fury looks absolutely gutted as the result is announced by the legendary Michael Buffer.

It's a surprising decision, given that it looked so much closer than that.

To the scorecards...

That was a very close fight.

I'd just about give it to Fury but a draw can't be ruled out here.

We'll bring you the decision in a moment...

Round 12

The two fighters touch gloves in a show of sportsmanship at the start of the final round.

Fury lands with another uppercut and tries to follow up with one more, but Usyk backs out of range.

Usyk gets through with a well-timed combination but Fury is unfazed.

Fury lands a one-two but comes under pressure from Usyk in the final minute of the round.

He slips away from danger before both fighters trade a succession of heavy blows.

Usyk tries a wild combination in the dying seconds but Fury dodges every blow.

Fury raises his arm as the bell rings to signal the end of the fight, while Usyk drops to his knees.

Round 11

Usyk comes out swinging but Fury spots a gap and lands with a right hand, forcing his rival to retreat.

Fury goes for another big uppercut but Usyk backs out of range.

He tries again and succeeds as Usyk attempts to work the body.

Usyk gets through with a left hand, then a right, before landing with a clean left hook.

Another big left hand pushes Fury back as Usyk rushes forward.

Fury lets off a right hand to kill his rival's momentum seconds before the end of the round.

One more round...

Round 10

Fury steps in and lands a solid uppercut, which is felt by Usyk. Another uppercut is blocked.

Usyk is trying to land with straight punches but Fury is expertly dipping in and out of range.

He gets back on the front foot and tries to let his hands go, but it ends in a clinch.

Fury regroups and lands a left hand to the face before unleashing another to the body.

He finds a way through to Usyk's face before tying him up, nullifying the possibility of a counter.

Usyk swings a left hand but Fury dodges it. A good round for the Gypsy King, who is in the ascendancy at the moment.

Round nine

The two fighters trade jabs before Fury lands a solid right hand to Usyk's torso.

Fury steps in and whips another right hand into the body. He follows up with two uppercuts but Usyk blocks both of them.

Both boxers are struggling to find a sustained rhythm, each disrupting the other at every opportunity.

Usyk unleashes a flurry of body shots before a solid left to the jaw forces Fury to backpedal.

Three rounds to go...

Round eight

Usyk, once again, gets on the front foot early in the round. It seems to be part of his strategy.

Fury blocks a left hook from Usyk, who has a bit of damage around his left eye.

An accidental clash of heads prompts a brief pause, with the referee happy to allow the fight to continue after a few seconds.

Usyk swings a wild haymaker but Fury dodges it before backing his opponent up and landing to the body.

Fury tries a right hand but Usyk bursts forward, missing with a flurry of punches before the bell rings.

Round seven

Usyk lands a couple of well-timed punches at the start of the round.

Fury gets a bit too close and Usyk lets him know, firing off a right hand which connects with his jaw.

He follows up with another left hand to the body. Fury has adopted a more cautious approach and looks unwilling to commit.

A big left hand from Usyk lands on Fury's cheekbone. He throws another powerful left at the end of the round but Fury dodges it.

It's a good round from Usyk but this fight remains on a knife-edge.

Round six

It's a cagey start to the round with both fighters landing scruffy shots.

Fury catches Usyk with a left hook but the champion responds with a straight right.

He brushes off another left hand from Fury before surging forward and landing a right-left combination.

Usyk lands the best punch of the fight so far, taking advantage of a gap in Fury's defence to hit him with a left hand.

Fury certainly feels it, but he dips out of range before the bell sounds to mark the halfway point.

This could still go either way.

Round five

Usyk lands a heavy left hand at the start of the round, with Fury clinching before the referee breaks them up.

Fury hits back with a couple of jabs. He seems to be searching for an uppercut to hurt Usyk, but is being made to bide his time.

He eventually gets an opportunity and whips Usyk's head back with a solid connection.

Usyk hits back with a flurry of punches but Fury responds in kind.

He is still in the centre of the ring and begins to walk Usyk down, targeting the head and body.

Fury is starting to step it up another level. He lands to the body as Usyk flashes a smile back at him.

Usyk doubles up with two successive left hands at the end of the round.

Round four

Usyk lands a couple of hard blows at the very start of the round, but Fury shrugs them off.

He catches Usyk with a right hand to the side of the temple, forcing his rival to step back.

Usyk finds a way through and lands on Fury's nose, prompting a roar of excitement from the crowd.

Fury responds with another solid shot before missing with a huge swing as Usyk pulls his head back.

Both fighters are on top form so far. It's looking like it will be a very close one.

Round three

Fury is finding more and more success with his well-timed jabs but needs to be wary of his opponent's counter-punching ability.

Usyk is looking to make the most of any gap he can exploit in Fury's defence.

He throws a powerful left hand but it fails to connect cleanly. Another comes in but Fury manages to dodge it.

Usyk goes back to working the body as Fury switches to southpaw in the final moments of the round.

There are a flurry of punches from both men before the bell rings.

Not much in this at all.

Round two

Usyk comes out of his corner with an immediate left hand to the torso, forcing Fury to hop out of range.

The reigning champion is trying to fight in the pocket and work the body.

Fury, meanwhile, is holding the centre of the ring despite not landing too many meaningful shots.

He fires off two jabs before Usyk sees an opening and responds with a right hand.

Fury then catches Usyk with a strong right hand of his own, but the Ukrainian is unhurt.

It's a good end to the round for Fury. This fight is already opening up nicely.

Round one

Usyk, in purple trunks, lands an early jab but a right hand comes back from Fury, wearing red.

The two fighters are trying to work each other out in these opening exchanges.

Usyk lets go with a right hand and tags Fury, who quickly darts out of striking range.

The Gypsy King is looking to use his superior reach to keep Usyk at bay.

Usyk finds a way through once more before Fury initiates a clinch.

An intriguing first round, with Usyk just about edging it.

Seconds out

After months of waiting and several weeks of chatter from both camps, the moment has arrived.

The talking stops now. The biggest fight of the year is finally about to begin.

Will it be Oleksandr Usyk or Tyson Fury? Let's find out...

HERE WE GO!
