Best Ukrainian president ever. A real chance for Ukrainian nation's survival and even possibility for democracy in Russia as such is how I see it as.

Poroshenko at UNGA: Russia occupies 7% of Ukraine's territory, kills 13,000 people

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said at the UN General Assembly in New York City that Russia has occupied 7% of Ukraine's territory, 13,000 people have been killed and more than 28,000 have been injured as a result of Russian aggression.

"As a result of this, 44,000 square kilometers, or 7%, of the territory of Ukraine, including Crimea and the eastern districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, are now occupied," he said on Wednesday during the UNGA debate on the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"Russia's armed aggression has claimed the lives of 13,000 people and more than 28,000 people have been injured. And this figure also includes 298 passengers of flight MH17, which was shot down by the Russian military from the Buk missile system in July 2014," Poroshenko added.

According to him, more than 1.8 million residents of Crimea and Donbas had to leave their homes as a result of Russian aggression and occupation.

"Once the peaceful life of people in those regions turned into a nightmare accompanied by fear and terror," he said.

As UNIAN reported, as part of his working visit to the United States, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on February 20 participated in the UN General Assembly, where for the first time in the history of this organization plenary debates took place on a new agenda item: "The situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine."
