                  The reporting of this story gets more bizarre by the minute. The latest is that he left Pedi on another path leading to the next village . According to reports it's a three hour hike yet it's only two kilometres away.

                As the search for TV doctor Michael Morsely enters its fourth day, locals in Symi, a small island in Greece, have issued a major warning.

                The search for Michael Mosley has intensified, with a Greek local describing it as a "race against time" after efforts shifted to a perilous mountainous path.

                CCTV footage captured Mosley, a well-known TV presenter, entering the rugged trail around 2pm on Wednesday from the edge of Pedi's small marina.

                One rescuer called his decision "inexplicable," noting that even a fit young person would take about three hours to walk the path to the port.

                "The path is not easy to follow; if he took a wrong turn, he could be lost. He could be anywhere. It is a race against time," the rescuer explained, as the seldom-used path veers inland rather than hugging the coast.

                Search efforts were suspended at 8 pm Greek time on Friday due to nightfall and are set to resume on Saturday morning.

                After thoroughly searching the coastal path, rescuers are now concentrating on the more challenging mountain trail.

                Residents have rallied to aid the search, with many using their boats to scour the coastal area for the 67-year-old who disappeared in high temperatures.

                Mika Papakalodouka, daughter of the island's mayor, said that numerous island residents are involved in the search efforts.

                "It is a small island, people talk. We're good people here. Everybody is looking for him," the 20-year-old, who now studies maritime business remotely at Solent University, Southampton, said. She added: "It's so weird for us. Everybody is worried and looking for him."

                The local police department resumed the search on Friday morning after halting operations the previous night. Symi's deputy mayor, Ilias Chaskas, confirmed that divers are searching the waters while the local coast guard has joined the efforts.

                "We inform you that the Port Authority of Symi is assisting the investigations of the Hellenic Police, using patrols from the sea and operational vessels patrolling the area", a spokesperson for the Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy spokesperson stated.

                Additionally, a spokesperson for the Greek fire service said: "The search continues today with seven firefighters, one drone checking the wider area, and we are cooperating with the Hellenic Police Office."

                The island's small community of around 300 permanent residents remains hopeful as the search for Michael Mosley continues.
